Success for The Checkpoint One Foundation!

The Checkpoint One Foundation has been successful on multiple fronts now, relocating and otherwise assisting multiple Iraqi and Afghan families.  Below, please read the story of the first family brought to safety by the CPOF...

September, 2007:

The Checkpoint One Foundation has successfully relocated its first Iraqi family to the United States!  An Iraqi family of five is now living in safety, thanks to the efforts of The Checkpoint One Foundation and its supporters. 

Less than one week before the safe arrival of this family, the head of household, an Iraqi Interpreter working with the US Armed Forces in Baghdad, received a chilling phone call from the cell phone of a friend, colleague, and fellow interpreter.  The voice on the phone was not that of his friend, but spoke a simple phrase:  "You're next." 

The tortured, lifeless and barely identifiable body of the colleague was found not long afterward.  Techniques almost incomprehensible to the mind were utilized as torture... A power drill had plunged deep into the body dozens of times, and the flesh on his back had been burned off with an electric heater. 

We can safely assume that the threat levied against our new arrival was not an empty or idle one.
